Figure 43  Isometric 08 – Fire Protection Water Mist

A warehouse 24m long x 18m wide is protected by a high pressure water mist fire protection system.

A total of 36 high pressure water mist nozzles are used. Each nozzle covers a 3m x 4m area.

The water mist nozzles are located at 4.0m elevation, hence each nozzle must provide enough water to cover an area of 3m x 4m x 4m. The spray volume required for this type of system is typically 0.08 - 0.10 l/min per cubic meter to be protected.

The flow required from each nozzle is therefore 3 x 4 x 4 x 0.10 l/min = 4.8 l/min

This gives a minimum flow requirement of 36 x 4.8 l/min = 172.8 l/min.
