Figure 6  Common 06 Pump Types

A pump is included in a system by adding it to a specific pipe.

Multiple pumps can be modeled, both in series and in parallel.

Pipe Flow Expert allows three types of pump model:

1. Flow versus Head performance curve (Centrifugal pump):

The system will be solved with a flow rate and pump head which lies on the performance curve.

The duty point for the steady state balanced solution will be plotted on the performance curve.

2. Fixed Flow Rate (Positive displacement, Piston or Peristaltic pump):

The system will be solved for the set flow rate and the pump head required will be calculated.

3. Fixed Head Increase (Pump or Compressor):

The system will be solved with the specified pump head and the flow rate achieved will be reported.
