Exported Fluid Data Filename Format
Exported fluid data files are automatically named using a structured format that embeds key fluid properties directly into the filename. This naming convention ensures that each exported file is self-describing and can easily be matched to its corresponding fluid conditions.
The filename format is:
<Fluid Name>+D<density>_P<pressure>_T<temperature>.<extension>
The extension (file type) will be in accordance with the following:
|
File Type |
Description |
|
.pfli |
These are standard Pipe Flow fluid files that contain liquids and are distributed with the software or available from Pipe Flow Software. |
|
.pfga |
These are standard Pipe Flow fluid files that contain gases and are distributed with the software or available from Pipe Flow Software. |
|
.pfliu |
These are user defined liquid files that contain liquids created using the Pipe Flow Expert software. |
|
.pfgau |
These are user defined fluid files that contain gases created using the Pipe Flow Expert software. |
Once the fluid data has been successfully exported, a confirmation dialog is displayed confirming the folder and filename(s).
Handling Existing Files During Fluid Data Export
If a file with the same name already exists in the selected export folder, Pipe Flow Expert displays a confirmation dialog to prevent accidental overwriting.

Figure 148 Export Fluid Data Existing Files Dialog
This dialog provides several options for how to proceed:
|
Option |
Description |
|
Yes |
Replace the existing file with the newly exported one. |
|
No |
This is the default option. |
|
Keep Both |
Save the new file alongside the existing one. |
|
Stop |
Cancel the entire export process immediately. |
|
Apply to All |
The checkbox option is intended for use with Yes, No or Keep Both, allowing the selected action to be automatically applied to all remaining files in the export operation without prompting again. |
This confirmation process ensures that users have full control over how existing files are handled and helps prevent unwanted overwriting of fluid data.
Once the fluid data is successfully exported, an information dialog is displayed to confirm the process is complete and to give the user an opportunity to view the export log.
